To the Drivers,
With the 2011 season coming up we have new events and new challenges to go with them. The DDRA is excited about this growth and hope it brings a new interest in demolition derby across the states.
First and foremost I would like to bring up one thing that bugs me the bugs me the most. Last year was the 1st time I've ever heard booing at one of my events. This was due to weak, non-aggressive driving towards the end of a main event. I understand that you need car count to have an event but more so you need a crowd that builds the prize money to pay the drivers for an event. Demolition derby is and has always been a show. Put on a good show for the people who paid to come watch you!
2nd we have never been nor will never be perfect. Judges will make mistakes from time to time. Shit happens. Please take a moment and think about it before you come yelling. Is it really going to change your outcome overall? We do this so you can drive. If you think you can do better than by all means come down! We'd be happy to place you on the berm so one of our judges can drive instead. Please remember this is supposed to be for fun! We are losing car count everywhere because people are taking the fun out of this sport.
Thank you for your time and good luck in the upcoming derby season!
Sincerely,
Greg Wertz,
President
